{"id":70,"date":"2023-03-01T01:53:26","date_gmt":"2023-03-01T01:53:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/whyallatestandtag.com.au\/?page_id=70"},"modified":"2023-03-01T01:53:26","modified_gmt":"2023-03-01T01:53:26","slug":"how-to-reduce-testing-costs","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/whyallatestandtag.com.au\/?page_id=70","title":{"rendered":"How To Reduce Testing Costs"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul>\n<li>Get rid of stuff!\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Encourage people to dispose of items that are faulty or obsolete.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Give items away if they are still OK, sell or raffle them off!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sites often have legacy equipment hanging around that is not in use.\n<ul>\n<li>That box of spare cords could add up to quite a few dollars in testing fees.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do you really need that radio from 1980?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Can you cull any of those gimicky kitchen appliances?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do you still have legacy power tools, from before everyone went to batteries?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Community organisations are often the worst for this as no one has &#8220;ownership&#8221; to decide what to do with old equipment. Thus all can add to the collection but no one can cull the collection.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>If you need to have a collection of old equipment on site, consider tagging it &#8220;Out Of Service&#8221; and place in a secure location. This will remove it from the testing regime.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avoid duplicates\n<ul>\n<li>Store similar items in a common location, this may prevent dual purchasing leads etc because some have been stored in an odd place and can&#8217;t be found easily.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Damaged and faulty equipment\n<ul>\n<li>Did you know that over 90% of fails are detected visually?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Save yourself the cost of a fail tag, inspect and repair or remove faulty and damaged equipment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Inspect for:\n<ul>\n<li>Cracked casing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Faulty plug\/missing ring grip<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Melted or burn marks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cuts in cables<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hard wiring\n<ul>\n<li>Consider hardwiring as an option.
